URL Parser & Query Inspector
Break any URL into its parts — protocol, host, path, and every query parameter — live as you paste.
Long URLs hide their structure: tracking parameters, campaign tags, session IDs, and API keys all ride along in the query string. This tool breaks any URL into its parts — protocol, host, port, path, fragment, and every query parameter decoded and listed — so you can debug routes, audit UTM tags, or extract values without eyeballing a 300-character string. Parsing uses the browser’s native URL API and runs entirely on your device.
How to parse a URL
- Paste the full URL — including the protocol (https://…) — into the input box.
- Click Parse. The parts panel shows protocol, host, port, path, and fragment.
- Every query parameter is listed decoded, one per line, in original order.
- Combine with the URL Encoder/Decoder when you need to re-encode a cleaned-up URL.
URL parsing example
Given this URL:
https://example.com:8080/products?category=shoes&sort=price&utm_source=newsletterthe parser reports:
protocol: https:
hostname: example.com
port: 8080
pathname: /products
query parameters:
category = shoes
sort = price
utm_source = newsletterFrequently asked questions
Why does my URL fail to parse?
The parser needs an absolute URL with a protocol. "example.com/page" fails; "https://example.com/page" works. Relative URLs have no host to parse.
Does it handle encoded characters?
Yes — query values are shown URL-decoded (e.g. %20 appears as a space), exactly as a server would receive them after decoding.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Parsing uses your browser’s built-in URL API; the URL never leaves your device.
